Disney Forms “Technology Enablement Office” Dedicated To AI And AR

The Walt Disney is no stranger to various interesting technological developments such as from fiction to reality. Most recently, they have established a special department which is the Technology Enablement Office specifically for artificial intelligence and augmented reality.

This office, the Office of Technology Enablement, will develop artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) technology that is said to be implemented into movies, television content and parts of Disney theme parks. It will be led by Jamie Voris, the person responsible for making the Disney+ app a success in Apple Vision Pro.

Disney is confident that AI and AR will change the perception of users towards enjoying content, change creative work and also allow businesses to develop further. The projects under this office are diverse but will ensure that they are in line with Disney's vision and mission. This Technology Enablement Office will have up to 100 employees.

Disney also sees a future of augmented reality content suitable for use with mixed reality/augmented reality headsets that could appeal to many consumers. So far, Marvel and ILM have collaborated for immersive content in Apple Vision Pro. Since this headset is limited in selected countries, the content offering is also limited. Hopefully with the development of the headset industry, AI, and mixed reality – this immersive Disney content will also expand into many platforms maybe Pico too?
