Last week, we reported that the Malaysian Ministry of Health is considering the development of an ambulance driver service similar to Grab and to no longer have any ambulance vehicles in government hospitals.
Recently, it was reported that the Ministry of Health is in the process of developing a super app to manage various health services, including for the call service feature of the ambulance.
This matter seems to be confirmed by Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Lukanisman Awang Sani himself. He said that this is part of the process of digitization and empowerment of the medical industry and health system in Malaysia.
"This application is in line with the growing use of e-hailing and is often used in urban areas," he told reporters after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Health and the National Heart Institute (IJN) for the Cardiovascular Prevention Continues Medical Education (CME) program ) which takes place on Tuesday.
He also said that for this ambulance service, the feature is seen as more suitable for use in urban locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Kuching. Even so, it is seen that the 999 emergency line is still more suitable for use in rural or rural areas.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health will also hold discussions with stakeholders, NGOs and the health industry sector to refine this initiative before it is implemented.
