Malaysian Ministries Attacked Over 1500 Times During 2023 And 2024



Cyber-attacks and hacking on local digital infrastructure is nothing new. It was reported recently that local ministries were attacked 1633 times during the year 2023, and 1547 times until September 2024.


Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Dr. Zaliha Mustafa said that all these attacks have been detected and repelled by the National Security Agency (Nacsa), the National Security Council (MKN) and the Prime Minister's Department.



He said that the number of attacks on government infrastructure in these two years is seen to decrease sharply when compared to the number of cyber attacks as high as 4378 attacks in 2022.


The development and introduction of the National Cyber ​​Coordination and Command Center (NC4) is also seen as helping to ensure that IT infrastructure and government data remain secure and has introduced best practices in terms of the use of computer security software and also the best measures to ensure details users of government employees are not drained of social engineering decks and so on.


In the meantime, it was also reported that NC4 will help in developing a system that allows government processes to continue to function even if there are compromised government systems.
