With the boom in the use of artificial intelligence, now Mark Zuckerberg is aiming for the next development in the social media arena to be content generated by artificial intelligence (AI) itself. The number of AI-generated content is seen to increase drastically, and fill the timeline space on Facebook, Instagram, and even Threads.
Various forms of AI-generated content are expected to be shown, including summaries of content, AI-generated content, or content assembled by AI for user viewing. This move is also expected to lead to new usage patterns on social media.
As many are aware, Facebook initially only suggested friends to follow to fill the user's timeline. Next, it began to integrate peer-to-peer algorithms, and subsequently interaction-based algorithms. Now, Facebook shows random content based on popularity and their special algorithm – and setting the algorithm together with the use of AI successfully makes users spend more time than ever before.
In addition to the integration of AI on content, Mark Zuckerberg also focused on the development of their own chatbot, called Meta AI and now has more than 500 million users worldwide. The Meta AI feature is expected to be introduced to Malaysian users in the near future.
