Apart from CelcomDigi, now Maxis also issued an official statement following the selection of U Mobile as the developer of Malaysia's Second 5G Network infrastructure. According to Maxis, they have submitted a comprehensive technical and commercial proposal to SKMM for the development of the second 5G network.
Maxis also emphasized that their proposal also includes Maxis' 30 years of experience in building, operating, and financing top-class networks, in addition to providing the best service to customers.
The proposal made by Maxis is based on 5G-Advanced technology, which can also help enterprises in increasing the use of 5G, and not just for public users. This is in line with the government's desire to expand the use of 5G to enterprises. Maxis also has more than 11,000 mobile sites nationwide that can be upgraded with a 5G experience.
Maxis emphasizes that they are a local Malaysian company led by Malaysians, and owned by Malaysians with a 77% shareholding.
For now, Maxis says it is still exploring options regarding the 5G network, and assures consumers and businesses that they will continue to enjoy 5G access through Maxis' agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB).
Maxis will also contact the MCMC to understand the rationale behind their selection and decision regarding the development of Malaysia's Second 5G Network.
