Microsoft Teams Will Let Users Voice Clone For Foreign Language Translation

Among other interesting but dangerous features of generative AI is the ability of human voice clones to create avatars. The good thing is that it makes it easier for users to do voiceover work or make it easier for video content to be produced, while the dangerous use is that famous people's voices are used for fraudulent purposes. Microsoft Teams is going to use this feature for interesting and futuristic things.

In the future, users can clone their own voice in the Microsoft Teams teleconferencing service for translation purposes. Users will basically train their own voice into a digital voice that can speak different languages such as English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. This feature will make the AI voice that translates teleconference sessions use its own voice instead of an annoying AI or robot voice.

This feature will arrive in early 2025 and will be limited to paid Microsoft 365 subscribers first. This feature will also be in the Public preview program.
