The Nintendo Switch 2 has already been confirmed to arrive next year. Not much information is shared about Nintendo's new generation mobile console. Recently, Nintendo confirmed that the new Switch will support backward compatibility of games from the original Switch.
For now it is still not sure if all the games only or the selected ones. Most likely this support is through digital games and not cartridges. It may be just like other classic Nintendo games that can be played through Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo also shared that Nintendo Software is the most used on Switch compared to other Nintendo products. It has now sold 1.3 billion units and has been played on 146 million Switches.
Although the number of Nintendo Switch Online subscribers has decreased, the number of subscribers who subscribe to the more expensive package, the Expansion Pack, has increased. Hopefully, Nintendo's idea to bring backwards compatibility support for old games to new consoles can save a lot of old games.
