The Southeast Asian smartphone market shows an increasing trend of reaching 15% for Q3 2024 according to Canalys' latest report. In the statement, Canalys said Oppo led the smartphone market in Southeast Asia including Malaysia with 5.1 million units shipped equivalent to a 21% market share. The increase was driven by the popularity of rebranded entry-level devices such as the Oppo A3X and A3. Followed closely by Samsung with a market share of 16%, Transsion (16%), Xiaomi (15%) and Vivo (10%).
Canalys added that, along with the development of technology, this trend will also continue to grow and innovate. In addition, each manufacturer has its own way in the process of improving and promoting products according to the needs of target users. For example, Oppo and Samsung are increasing their investment through premium stores across Southeast Asia to expand their reach in today's market. Honor and Xiaomi are expanding partnerships with mobile network operators in Thailand and Malaysia to reach a wider audience.
