Not all TV series on streaming platforms air simultaneously. Some are seasonal and some are one episode per week. What if you want to catch up on the new season of your favorite TV series but have forgotten about the last season because it happened a year or two ago? Prime Video now has a solution.
Using generative artificial intelligence technology, X-Ray Recaps is introduced in beta form. It can summarize the entire last season of a TV series before you continue watching the next season. According to Prime Video, this feature is not to waste the user's time by re-watching past content, but instead just read the summary that is promised to be spoiler-free.
Interestingly, X-Ray Recaps can also summarize according to the desired episode. This feature builds on the existing X-Ray with Amazon Bedrock integration and Amazon SageMaker multilanguage model. X-Ray Recaps analyzes video segments, subtitles or character conversations, locations and atmospheres in a scene to generate appropriate summaries.
Currently this feature is limited to Prime Video on Fire TV and is exclusive to users in the United States only. It is also limited to Prime Video original content under Amazon MGM Studios Original. In the future, support for Prime Video in other devices can also use this feature but access for users in other countries such as in Malaysia is not specified.
