Qualcomm Launches RISC-V Chip For Connected Devices

Qualcomm launched the QCC74xM chip which is their first release using the RISC-V architecture. It supports WiFI 6 and bluetooth connectivity and supports Thread and Zigbee connected device (IoT) protocols. This makes it a chip that can be used in smart home hubs and smart home devices.

In addition, the QCC730M chip was also launched with it targeting use in battery-connected devices such as door locks and smart security cameras. It comes with a 60MHz CPU, 640KB RAM memory and WiFI 4 support. It also comes with cryptographic hardware to run security algorithms.

Both can now be ordered as samples for interested customers with it aiming to go on sale starting in the first half of 2025.
