Last September, rumors emerged that Qualcomm was interested in taking over Intel. This was because Qualcomm wanted to become a power in the production of chips for PCs and Intel's situation was facing losses due to the failure of several products. Today, Bloomberg reported that Qualcomm was no longer very interested in buying Intel.
This was due to the difficulties faced if the purchase went through. Qualcomm would have to go through several antitrust investigations that would take time. Therefore, Qualcomm may now only buy Intel's design business.
This year, the Snapdragon X chip was launched for Windows using the Arm architecture. This is Qualcomm's attempt to enter the PC arena more seriously to provide competition to Apple, which also produces Arm-based computers.
