In the middle of this year, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon X series of processor chips consisting of the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus that power most of today's Arm-based laptop offerings, including Microsoft Windows For Arm.
In fact, this series of processing chips is the first to receive Copilot+ PC certification by Microsoft for its ability to power AI technology directly in the device. However, one issue presented with laptops powered by these processing chips is their rather expensive price tag.
Recently, at an XDA-Developers event, Qualcomm has announced that they will launch another series of new processing chips, this time simply named Qualcomm Snapdragon X.
Qualcomm made this announcement to answer questions about whether they will offer any products for affordable class laptops, and they confirmed that this chip will power laptops that are in the $600 (~RM2700) price tag.
At the moment, not much is known about this processing chip, but it seems that it will at least come with Copilot+ support, so the NPU used is the same as that used in the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processing chips.
For now, Qualcomm has not confirmed any other specifications regarding this processing chip, nor when will more details be revealed. But the public expectation is that Qualcomm will at least make one more announcement during the CES 2025 event.
