Nintendo is expected to introduce its successor to the Nintendo Switch next year, but recently it seems that new information has leaked onto the web that gives some idea of when the console will be shown and launched.
Through the Famiboards forum site and the social media platform Weibo, it is expected that Nintendo will introduce the Nintendo Switch 2, or its code name, “Ounce” in January 2025, and will be launched around March 2025.
This rumour is at least in line with the existing knowledge that the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be launched in Nintendo’s 2024-2025 financial year, which will end on March 31, 2025. Regarding the rumours about its announcement, a gaming content creator, Stephen Georg said that he received an email about the launch of a new video game that will arrive on the Nintendo Switch(es) console.
This could be a sign that Nintendo is preparing the marketing machinery for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, but so far, there are not many details that we can know about it.
Similar rumors on Weibo say that Nintendo is preparing to produce 650 thousand units of the Nintendo Switch 2 console that will be powered by the NVIDIA T239 processor chip. What can be confirmed about the new console is that it will come with backward support for previous Nintendo Switch games.
