Softbank will integrate NVIDIA's AI technology on Japan's cellular network. This was revealed by Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son during a dialogue with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. According to the AI radio access network (AI-RAN) will be used by Softbank-owned telecommunications companies in Japan.
When paired with the new supercomputer being built, it will make it an artificial intelligence grid that spans the entirety of Japan. This network will be used by self-driving vehicles as well as robots used in industrial operations. Artificial intelligence is used to manage the cellular network to ensure that the internet speed is always fast even in high demand situations occurring in an area.
Also revealed in the dialogue with Huang is that Softbank will build Japan's most powerful AI supercomputer using the NVIDIA B200 chip. This supercomputer will be the backbone for the AI-RAN system in the future. This supercomputer is also used to develop Japanese AI technology which is currently still behind other developed countries.
