Sony is now reportedly in talks to take over one of Japan's leading media companies, Kadokawa. Sony already has a 2% stake in Kadokawa, and this takeover could be worth nearly $3 billion.
Kadokawa has a number of publishing and game companies under them. In fact, local company GempakStarz is also owned by Kadokawa.
Kadokawa previously started as a publisher in 1945, and has expanded their offerings to include games, anime, and events.
For Sony itself, they have a high investment in the anime arena as well as games – making Kadokawa's takeover one of the complements for them.
For now, both parties have not released any comments related to this new report.
