In February 2021, Spotify announced they would offer a more expensive subscription plan for CD-quality audio streaming. Then in May 2021, Apple launched lossless audio streaming support on Apple Music for the same subscription price and this made Spotify delay their offering until today.
In addition to the price of the Spotify Super Premium or Music Pro subscription being 40% more expensive, Daniel Ek as Spotify's CEO has confirmed that this plan is not limited to high quality audio only. Users will also be able to enjoy various new features and functions. Only, for now Spotify still hasn't revealed when they will offer this new subscription plan.
