Skydio, the largest drone manufacturer from the United States has been sanctioned by China. According to Skydio, the sanctions were imposed because the company supplies drones to Taiwan that are used by the country's firefighting agency. Due to this restriction, Skydio says their production will be affected for several months.
Although Skydio manufactures their drones in the United States, the batteries are still manufactured in China. New battery supply sources need to be found to continue drone production. For a short period of time, the amount of batteries sold with their X10 drone will be reduced.
The blocking of Skydio is seen as a response to various obstacles imposed on DJI in recent years. Its use by government agencies and military personnel has been banned by the United States.
At the same time a few months ago a bill tried to ban the sale of DJI drones in the United States for safety reasons but was not passed. As a result DJI filed a lawsuit against the United States for listing it as a company owned by the Chinese military.
