With iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, Apple is slowly starting to integrate generative AI features directly into the system. Now that it's reached version 18.2, more features are included such as ChatGPT, Genmoji and more. Apple is also using Apple Intelligence for AI search support in the Photos app and a similar search method is starting to arrive in the App Store.
Apple's App Store, the App Store, should have been ready with this feature since last October, but it hasn't appeared. The latest report from The Verge shows that the App Store will issue a 'Search the Way You Talk. Use natural language to find things like "Apps that help me work out."' notice. Through it, users can search for apps by entering words that describe something.
For example, emulators that feature multiple consoles will display Delta emulator apps. Apps that only emulate a single console will display apps like PS Remote Play, PlayStation, and Xbox . Or searching for Video games that can help me work out will display a permua or app that you didn't know existed.
In my testing, this feature is still not available on the App Store on iPhone 16 with iOS 18.3. It may be limited to select countries or lucky users only. Moreover, Apple Intelligence still has limited support and may not be available to all users. The App Store will also display AI-summarized reviews.
