Apple is ready to be involved in a court case against Google, which is said to be monopolizing the search engine arena. Touching on it, Apple has now shared the reasons why they do not plan to develop their own search engine.
According to court documents shared via Reuters, the following are some of the reasons Apple gave for why they will not develop their own search engine. These include:
Developing a search engine would be very expensive.
Investing in a search engine would require funds and employees that would need to be diverted from other development priorities, especially those that are more relevant to Apple.
The search engine arena itself is high risk due to technological shifts and artificial intelligence.
Apple does not have expertise in the field of advertising, which is the main source of income for a search engine. In fact, Apple focuses on privacy, which may present more challenges in this arena to develop a search engine that generates high revenue.
Because of this, Apple is seen taking more precautions by collaborating with Google for this purpose. In fact, according to previous reports, Google is said to have paid Apple around $20 billion to include their search engine as the main search engine. With such a high guaranteed revenue, it may be more efficient for Apple not to develop and wastefully invest in developing their own search engine.
