ByteDance Asks Court to Block TikTok Ban If Not Sold



ByteDance and TikTok are now appealing to the court to obtain a temporary stay order from the TikTok application being blocked if it is not sold by January 19, 2025. This stay is requested in an effort to await a review by the United States Supreme Court regarding TikTok's appeal.


TikTok in the United States has more than 170 million users, and also has a TikTok Shop service that helps a number of small businesses.


If TikTok fails to obtain this latest injunction, it will be banned in the United States in about 6 weeks, and ByteDance will have to find a buyer for TikTok in the United States if it wants to continue operating in the country.
