Google NotebookLM is one of my favorite generative AI services. This is because it can generate a podcast episode with two AI hosts based on article links, text, and document files such as PDFs. It is also capable of generating natural voices as if a real human were discussing a topic. Recently, ElevenLabs has introduced their own version.
It is named GenFM and what makes it more powerful and unique than NotebookLM is that it supports 32 different languages. Not only that, GenFM can also offer various voices based on different characters that are not limited to the same voice as Google. However, for now, users cannot choose a voice because it is automatically generated based on the text source provided.
Like Google, GenFM's AI host can also mimic human thoughts before speaking such as "umm" or "aahhh". In our attempt, our article will be generated into an Indonesian podcast even though ElevenLabs supports Malay. Each podcast generated also has a text transcript separated according to the conversation of the different hosts.
GenFM is available on their app, ElevenReader, on iOS. Support for Android devices will be coming in the future.
