In February, a Delaware judge denied Elon Musk a $56 billion bonus after he met Tesla's sales targets. The decision came after several Tesla shareholders said the bonus was excessive and should have been reinvested back into the company instead of given to Musk. Elon Musk appealed, but the court again rejected it.
The judge said new evidence from Musk's lawyers failed to show he was entitled to the promised bonus. Although a majority of Tesla shareholders later voted to give Musk the bonus, the judge said it could not be used to overturn the court's decision.
Lawyers representing opposing shareholders were also awarded $346 million. Elon Musk has again filed an appeal against the decision. At this point, Elon Musk is the richest person in the world with assets worth $336 billion (~RM 1.54 trillion), which has been increasing as Tesla shares have become more valuable since Trump's victory.
