Elon Musk has filed an injunction against OpenAI, specifically CEO Sam Altman, president Greg Brockman, Microsoft and board members, to prevent the artificial intelligence (AI) company from changing its status from a non-profit to a for-profit company.
In a document filed late Friday in California, Musk claims that OpenAI used their position to discourage investors from investing in competitors like his xAI. OpenAI also allegedly used its partnership with Microsoft to gain access to sensitive information that was beneficial to them. Musk added that this would make OpenAI's business practices anti-competitive and violate several US laws.
OpenAI has issued a statement denying Elon Musk's allegations and saying the filing has no merit. Earlier this year, Elon sued OpenAI for allegedly breaching an agreement not to change the company's status while he was an early investor. Elon Musk initially invested $44 million in OpenAI before pulling out due to a dispute with Sam Altman.
