One of the last things that comes to mind when it comes to productivity room comfort is the chair. If you’re at home, it’s no surprise that you’ll want to buy a “gaming chair” that looks great and is thought to be comfortable.
But even though these chairs feature a large design that is perceived as comfortable, for anyone whose job sees them sitting in an office chair for 6-8 hours every day, apart from comfort, another aspect that needs to be considered is posture so that you don’t end up with back pain from sitting for too long.
So, when Ergoworks asked if we were interested in reviewing their ergonomic chair, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to see what else this chair has to offer, especially when compared to other gaming chairs on the market.
Unboxing and Installation
The chair that was sent to us was the Ergoworks Truly Perfect Chair v2. After you purchase this chair, you have the option to have it delivered to your home or office, and have Ergoworks install it for you.
You can choose to assemble it yourself, and this is what I did for my chair. However, if given the choice again, I would have Ergoworks assemble this chair for me because there are some parts of this chair that are quite difficult to assemble by yourself without the help of a friend.
Aligning the screw holes on this chair, especially on the backrest and seat combination and also the armrest part for me was quite difficult without the help of a friend.
Even so, the assembly of this chair is not much different from the assembly of a gaming chair that we have built before. Our only warning is that since the frame of this chair is made of premium materials, we recommend that you be careful when removing the parts of this chair from the box.
Design
The first thing that distinguishes this Ergoworks Truly Perfect Chair, when compared to gaming chairs, is definitely in terms of the design of this chair. While many gaming chairs generally use a bucket seat design with cushions, for this Ergoworks chair, it uses mesh material for the seat and back rest that better supports the natural shape of your back for a more comfortable sitting position.
Meanwhile, the use of mesh also helps in ventilation while sitting. When you sit on a gaming chair, yes it feels quite comfortable. However, after a while, your back and back will feel hot, and steamy, and this causes the chair to feel uncomfortable.
In contrast to my experience sitting on this Ergoworks Truly Perfect Chair, the use of mesh material ensures that the seat and back rest always remain fresh and not stuffy or hot even after sitting for hours.
In the meantime, if you are worried that this chair is too small for you, Ergoworks has also confirmed that this Truly Perfect Chair is suitable for users with a height between 150cm to 180cm and a weight of 40kg to 130kg. And yes, if you are tall, you can install the armrest to a more outward position or modify the position of the armrest to accommodate your back to the seat of this chair.
This chair is also designed using the Donati chair mechanism which promises a very long lifespan. No matter how many times you adjust the position of your chair, whether it's the seat, backrest, headrest or armrests, or the height of the chair, Ergoworks promises long-lasting quality.
User Experience
After installing the Truly Perfect Chair v2, the first thing you'll want to get familiar with is the function of each adjuster shown on this chair. With this chair, you can not only adjust the height of the seat and backrest, but also adjust the seat in terms of its position from the lumbar section and also the thigh position.
The ability to change the position of the seat or back is something that is usually only unique to ergonomic chairs and this is important because everyone's lumbar (spine) is different.
You'll want to take the time to adjust this chair to your own comfort because this chair is specifically designed to not only provide you with the best comfort, but to ensure that you have a sitting posture that will save your back in the long run, especially when you sit for long periods of time every day.
Yes, the Truly Perfect Chair’s price tag is quite high, but it also comes with a 12-year warranty after purchase, which Ergoworks will replace if there are any issues with the frame. Most gaming chairs will typically only come with a one- or two-year warranty, and even then, depending on the brand, will only offer replacement parts.
And yes, I will say again that the use of mesh on the seat and back of this chair helps you not feel cramped when sitting for long periods of time. In fact, this chair is comfortable enough that I could fall asleep on it when I flexed the backrest a little.
In my own experience, I was able to tweak all the features on this chair, and adjust it to my comfort level in less than an hour. Perhaps if you’re buying this chair, my advice would be to see the chair for yourself first, and use it and ask the salesperson yourself what you want to know about their ergonomic chairs.
This is to enable you to make the right decision and see and feel the difference using this ergonomic chair, compared to other office chairs or gaming chairs. If you are interested, you can visit the Ergoworks Malaysia physical store located at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya or Pavilion Bukit Jalil to experience the experience of sitting on this aristocratic class chair for yourself.
Conclusion
At RM4429, you might wonder if it is really worth spending a lot of money on a chair that has the price tag of a modern smart device.
But if you think about it, many of us (like me) work in offices all day and sit all the time. In terms of long-term health, this sitting position for long periods of time is actually not very good for us, especially when we are constantly bending over to do work.
I will not deny that this Ergoworks Truly Perfect Chair V2 chair comes with a very formidable price tag, but after using it for a few weeks, it has made me think about what a comfortable and good-for-you chair really means.
