GAC Group, one of the popular automotive companies in China, has now announced plans to produce robots in limited quantities starting in 2026. GAC Group is already known for its car offerings, and has also shown off several robotic offerings before.
Through a special event in Shanghai, GAC Group this week showcased their latest robot called GoMate. It can come in two different modes, either four-wheel mode or two-wheel mode. GAC Group says the use of wheels instead of robotic legs will successfully reduce energy consumption for the robot's operation.
GoMate can be controlled using a remote control, or given full autonomous control through artificial intelligence support. This robot is also said to have good recognition and decision-making support.
For the initial stage, this robot is targeted to be used for security and safety, logistics, and even health purposes. With this healthy development, it is not impossible that we will see more companies exploring this robotics arena, and starting to market it more widely in the coming decade.
