Google Announces Android XR – Operating System For Headsets And Smart Glasses

Google today officially introduced Android XR, a new generation operating system that focuses on devices such as headsets and smart glasses. This operating system was developed with Samsung, and combines various Google investments in the AI, AR and VR arenas.

Google said that the first device using Android XR will be sold next year, developed by Samsung. Through it, it is said that users can easily switch from the virtual reality world to the real world. In addition, users can also access Gemini while using it, including to ask various things, as well as being used to control the device.

Access to applications such as YouTube, Google Photos and Chrome will be offered through this Android XR. In addition, a number of Android applications can also be run directly on Android XR devices through a special mode.

In addition to the mixed reality set from Samsung, Google also said that Android XR will power smart glasses, and make it easier for users to interact and obtain environmental information easily. This was demonstrated by Google itself through Project Astra before, which used the device's camera to inform about the environment.

Starting today, developers can start developing apps and games for upcoming Android XR devices.
