The latest Google Pixel Drop was given this morning bringing various new features that make buying a Pixel device even more worthwhile. Among the interesting things is that Gemini is now getting smarter with a memory mode. Gemini, for example, can be reminded by users not to eat junk food. When asked to recommend a nearby restaurant, it will not ensure that a restaurant with a vegetarian menu is given without having to be reminded many times.
Gemini can also support more applications built-in. Among those supported is Spotify where Gemini can be asked to generate a playlist according to a certain mood which is then approved in the application before being saved.
It can also finally be instructed to open the camera, set an alarm clock and control device settings. This is the weakness of Gemini that has made many people still reluctant to move from Assistant all this time. Gemini Live also supports more new languages such as Bahasa Indonesia. There is still no support for Bahasa Melayu.
Circle to Search users can also take a screenshot of the search in this application with a special button. No need to press the physical button anymore. It is then saved in Pixel Screenshot with the information saved. Search suggestions will then be displayed directly in Gboard based on relevant information stored by Pixel Screenshot.
The audio caption feature is also smarter at providing visual descriptions on the screen by providing audio cues for comments being spoken, clapping sounds, and more. This will help the hearing impaired or those watching with the audio muted.
The Simple View feature also enlarges interface elements for Pixel devices used by seniors. It's a bit strange that a standard feature on Android devices from other manufacturers is only now being provided on Pixel devices. Finally, Clear Voice has been introduced in the Recorder app to allow clearer audio recording. These are just some of the new features given to Google Pixel.
