Following the sudden resignation of Intel’s previous CEO, Pat Gelsinger earlier this week, Intel is now seen to have begun a search for a candidate to lead the company. Several names have been mentioned, and one of them is Malaysian-born Lip-Bu Tan.
Lip-Bu Tan is a veteran in the semiconductor arena. Born in Johor in 1959, Lip-Bu Tan also has a Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering from MIT. He is currently the executive chairman of Cadence Design Systems, in addition to making investments through Walden Catalyst.
For now, neither party has commented on the search for a new CEO. Intel is also reportedly considering Marvell Technology’s CEO for the Intel CEO position.
