This week Proton launched their electric car (EV) eMAS.7 this week after almost 40 years of producing only ICE vehicles. This is to ensure that they do not fall behind other automotive companies. But also interestingly this week, Lamborghini announced that it will delay the launch of their first EV to 2029.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said the delay from the original date of 2028 is because the market for their vehicle segment will only be ready to accept EVs in 2025 or 2026. Last year Lamborghini announced that all of its petrol cars had been sold out.
Unlike regular passenger cars, high-performance car enthusiasts still prefer petrol-powered vehicles. The noise and vibration of the engine are part of the Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini car buying experience.
At the same time, Ferrari will launch their first EV next year after tinkering with hybrids since 2013 with the LaFerraria model.
