The Lenovo ThinkPad laptop series is arguably one of the most iconic thin and light productivity laptops, especially with their very iconic red Lenovo TrackPoint pointer/mouse. The accessory is commonly seen as a “red dot” in the middle of the laptop and functions as a mouse.
The design of the latest Lenovo ThinkPad laptop, named Lenovo ThinkPad X9, has been leaked to the social media platform X/Twitter by WalkingCat. Apart from the increasingly compact design and the screen display with thinner frames, it is also shown that this latest ThinkPad laptop will no longer have the TrackPoint pointer.
Through the promotional image that was also shown, it seems that this laptop will only come with two USB Type-C plugs (possibly Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5) and one USB Type-A plug and one HDMI plug.
In terms of specifications, it is expected that this laptop will come with the latest Intel Core Ultra 200 series of processing chips. But whether it's the latest Lunar Lake or Arrow Lake processor chips, it's currently unknown.
Lenovo seems to be trying something new with its latest ThinkPad laptop offerings, but for longtime users of this laptop series, they'll be sad to see that their favorite ThinkPads no longer use the iconic TrackPoint pointer.
