LG Also Stops Production of Their Blu-Ray Disc Drives

Blu-ray was introduced almost 20 years ago where for consumers, it is a physical data storage medium that is used to this day for movies, music and even modern console games.

Lately, the use of the medium has been seen to have declined sharply, especially as digital downloads and online streaming are seen as faster, easier and cheaper than buying physical media.

Recently it has been reported that LG, a South Korean technology company known for its wide range of electronic components and products, has apparently stopped production of its Blu-ray disc drives.

This includes the UBK80 and UBK90 Blu-ray drive models which are two of their most popular Blu-ray drive models. This has been confirmed by global electronics distributors and retailers who confirmed that they have no longer received shipments of these Blu-ray drives, and they will only be sold while stocks last.

We have previously reported that other electronics companies such as Oppo and Samsung have all stopped producing their own Blu-ray drive products, with Sony itself having stopped producing its Blu-ray drives to focus on other parts of its business.
