Malaysian Immigration Department Offers Free Passport Replacement to Flood Victims

The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) is offering free passport replacement to flood victims throughout Malaysia. It said, through a statement on Facebook, flood victims who have damaged or lost their passports can get their personal documents replaced for free.

Owners need to go to any nearby Immigration Office for passport replacement. In addition, owners are required to bring along their identity card, original passport (if any) and police report (original & copy). Then no fee will be charged for replacing damaged or lost documents. However, it is subject to the main conditions as set by the nearby Immigration Office, such as the passport is still valid and not less than six (6) months.

The floods that are currently occurring in several states are due to more frequent heavy rains, following the country entering the transition phase of the Northeast Monsoon which is expected to continue until March next year.
