Many may not be aware that the Microsoft Excel King contest takes place every year. For the past three years, Andrew “The Annahilator” Ngai from Australia has held the throne as the world’s best Excel user. But this year he lost to Michael Jarman, a competitor from Canada.
He won the Microsoft Excel World Championship event held in Las Vegas last week. The financial modeling director in Toronto has been using his expertise in using the spreadsheet software in an esports competition that has been going on since 2021.
This year, Excel expertise was used to control a group of characters in World of Warcraft to complete missions. The statistics of each Horde character under control had to be tracked to get the highest score before undertaking the final Molten Core raid mission. Jarman won a prize of $5000 and a wrestling belt.
