Ministry of Human Resources and Huawei Collaborate to Strengthen TVET to Meet Industry and Technology Needs

The Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia (KESUMA) today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with information and communication technology (ICT) provider Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) to help improve the quality of Malaysia’s skills training sector and accelerate its digital transformation.

Through the agreement, KESUMA and Huawei will focus on jointly developing the first Huawei TVET Learning Centre (TVET Huawei Learning Centre), which is expected to be established soon at the Kuala Lumpur Industrial Training Institute (ILP). This move is considered attractive as it is expected to emerge as a leading solution in providing human capital that can meet industry demands.

The centre will offer training programmes related to the latest technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and telecommunications certified by Huawei. Where instructors will discuss the basic principles of telecommunications as an important element in the development of modern technology as a starting point. The training will be conducted together with trainers from the Department of Human Resources Training Institute after they are certified as certified trainers recognized by Huawei.

To begin with, 2000 trainees will be the pioneers for the first intake with them given the opportunity to learn theoretical knowledge and practical training. Trainees who have undergone training, assessment and successfully passed the relevant program are eligible to be awarded a training certificate. For the purpose of certification, trainees must meet the certification requirements set by Huawei, JTM and the relevant JTM institutes. In addition to having plans to further expand learning centers outside Kuala Lumpur.

This collaboration also covers important aspects such as upgrading ILJTM's network infrastructure, starting with ILP Pasir Gudang and ILP Pasir Gudang Senai Campus in Johor. Improving high-tech infrastructure such as classrooms and smart campuses with 5G technology and high-speed Wi-Fi 7. To further enhance workforce readiness, Huawei will collaborate with JTM under the Huawei ICT Academy initiative to provide opportunities and exposure to students to the real situation when stepping into the employment sector.
