MyDigital ID needs to be updated every year due to user data safety factors

Recently, MyDigital ID has announced that users of the app will need to update their digital identity every year and has shown steps on how to do so.

This is seen as a very easy process for users even though it only needs to be done once a year. It is understood that this renewal process is actually a re-registration process where the eKYC process needs to be carried out again, just like you are registering for a MyDigital ID account for the first time.

This renewal process can be carried out directly via the MyDigital ID application on the user's device or kiosks that are available around the country.

According to The Star's report, MyDigital ID CEO, Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor said that the MyDigital ID digital certificate has a usage period of one year before it needs to be renewed again for digital security purposes and is also a standard followed by international bodies.

He also said that they are aware that this process may be difficult for many people, and they will try to make the MyDigital ID renewal process as easy as possible, while ensuring the security of the platform is guaranteed.

MyDigital ID is expected to be used as a single login system for all government digital services in the future and will have 15 million registered users by 2025.
