Nokia has just launched a virtual reality camera with 360-degree recording capabilities for industrial use. It also offers streaming of Ultra-HD 8K content with spatial audio over different connections such as 5G, Wi-Fi and Ethernet for a stable and fast network. Additionally it offers the ability to transmit video and audio via private/public wireless networks while also allowing the use of remote control devices in real time.
A total of two different variants are offered, consisting of the Nokia 360° Camera (Wi-Fi) which is more suitable for 8K 360 degree multimedia streaming. Meanwhile, the Nokia 5G 360° Camera (Extreme Temperature) is also suitable for use in extreme temperature conditions. When paired with Nokia Real-time eXtended Reality Multimedia (RXRM) software, both cameras can also be used to monitor the condition of machines and equipment in real time. There is also a seal provided for an easy installation process, as well as having an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
Nokia is marketing this camera as an industrial device, so it won't be available to casual users. It has even been used in different industries to increase efficiency, such as the Finnish company Callio Pyhäjärvi which uses it for research purposes and long-distance operations related to mining.
