If at the Malaysia Autoshow in May, Perodua showcased their electric car (EV) prototype, the EMO-I, today they showcased the EMO-II, and also shared answers with the media about their first EV.
According to Perodua, they are currently in the final stages before manufacturing and there will be a '3rd Episode' before it is actually launched with specifications that are stated to have a difference of around 2-3% from the final version.
Perodua is still developing this EV with a target travel range of around 410km, a 50 kWh battery, 20-80% DC charging as fast as 30 minutes, AC charging will take 8 hours with a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 6.7 seconds. Based on the expected specifications above, it is likely that the AC charging provided is 7 kW.
Perodua also shared that their electric car will be offered in the price range of RM 50K-RM90K in line with Perodua's aspiration to be the most affordable EV manufacturer in Malaysia. However, at that price point there will also likely be several versions, including a version that may have a lower range. Let's all look forward to the announcement of EMO-III or Episode 3 next year.
