The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) is now sharing advice, so that the public should not fly unapproved drones in flood-affected areas, including in Kelantan, Terengganu, Perlis and Kedah.
It is feared that the use of unapproved drones could disrupt any aerial monitoring activities carried out by rescue teams, including when involving search and rescue operations using helicopters. In addition, flying unapproved drones in flood-affected areas may also lead to risks to the safety and security of the public.
It is also reminded that any flight activity that may pose a danger to the public or property is subject to Section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 (Act 3); Regulation 98, Regulations 140-144, the Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations (MCAR 2016) and the Civil Aviation Directives (CADs).
