Most of the generative artificial intelligence features available on Android devices now rely heavily on cloud processing. This is different from what Apple offers through Apple Intelligence which focuses on processing from within the device. This will also change for new Samsung devices.
According to @AssembleDebug on X, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will also focus on processing generative AI features directly from within the device. Samsung is said to not want to rely too much on cloud processing, especially when the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip which has proven to be quite powerful. This also means that users will have to download a certain amount of data first.
In addition to the source, three main features, namely generating background images, magic eraser in the photo album application and other generative AI features have been found in Samsung's software development code. This capability is also said to be limited to Samsung devices with Snapdragon chips and not Exynos or MediaTek. Samsung is also expected to use its own language model (LLM) due to the limited Gemini Nano and other Gemini APIs.
Let's all wait for more information. The launch of the Galaxy S25 series is expected to take place at the end of January 2025, less than a month from today.
