The search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will resume next year, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Ocean Infinity will once again attempt to find the final location of the Boeing 777 that went missing on March 8, 2014 with 227 passengers and 12 crew members. When it went missing, the plane was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Ocean Infinity has been involved in two previous searches but failed to find the plane. The contract signed is for 18 months with a search area of 15,000 square kilometers. The new location where the search will be conducted has not been given by Ocean Infinity. They will only receive a payment of $70 million (~RM 314 million) if they successfully find the plane's wreckage
The disappearance of flight MH370 has become one of the biggest mysteries in the aviation industry, putting it on a par with the disappearance of Amelia Earhart in 1937. Although the mystery of MH370 is still unsolved, it has brought about major changes in the industry with the use of satellite-based positioning systems now standard for the majority of airlines around the world.
