Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing, which produces camera sensors for smartphones, announced the success of producing more than 20 billion sensors since it began operations in the 1980s. According to Sony Semiconductor President Yoshihiro Yamaguchi, they managed to double production in just five years between 2019-2024.
This high figure is driven by high demand with Sony's IMX and Lytia series sensors having a reputation for taking high-quality images. At the same time, our modern smartphones come with more than two main cameras on the back.
