Telegram has published its content moderation report for 2024. As of December 15, Telegram has blocked 15,578,753 groups and channels for containing harmful content. Every day, tens of thousands of groups and channels are blocked after receiving reports from users and systems that track content that violates the platform's terms and conditions.
Of these, 707,576 are child sexual abuse material (CSAM) through the Internet Watch Foundation, which constantly monitors such content. In addition, 130,119 communities labeled as pro-terrorist have also been blocked by Telegram.
The amount of blocked content increased this year after Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in Paris for allegedly refusing to cooperate in several criminal cases involving certain individuals who spread pedophilia content, drug sales, online fraud, terrorist activities and illegal transactions.
