Third-Party Streaming Platform Subscriptions on Astro Can Now Be Upgraded

Astro is one of the largest satellite TV providers in Malaysia that tries to offer diverse subscription packages. The latest plan launched today, Astro One, gives users the flexibility to modify their respective subscription packages. Interestingly, for the first time, Astro allows customers to upgrade their third-party streaming platform subscriptions under them.

For example, with the Entertainment plan priced at RM49.99 per month, users can add Disney+ Hotstar Basic at RM18.30 per month compared to RM24.90 without Astro. The Premium plan can also be subscribed for RM33 compared to RM39.90 per month. Next is iQIYI Standard VIP which costs RM8.90 compared to RM11.90 per month and RM12.90 for Premium VIP compared to the usual RM17.90.

For Netflix, it seems to be limited to the Epik plan only. With a subscription of RM199.99 per month, Netflix Standard HD for 2-screen access is included. This plan usually costs RM49.90 per month and Netflix gives users an additional RM10 to upgrade to the Premium plan. Otherwise, this plan costs RM62.90 per month.

In our review, only the Max plan still cannot be modified or added to anywhere. Each subscription to this streaming platform is also no longer tied to a contract, but the Astro One subscription plan still has a 24-month contract.
