Threads has been doing a lot of things lately to ensure that Threads users’ content sharing receives the best reach and engagement. Yesterday, the feature of scheduling sharing was introduced and today the feature of using other users’ photos or videos is now available to all users.
This feature is part of the “Quote” under repost, where there will now be three options when the repost icon is pressed. The first is “Repost”, then “Quote” and the latest is “Use media”. Using this new feature, users can directly get the photo or video from the original share to reshare through their own account without additional text from the original user.
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, stated that the original user will also be credited with a watermark of the user’s name on the media file used. This is more or less the same feature that is available on X, where when there is media content shared from another user’s account – the original account that shared it the first time will be credited.
In my tests, this feature is still not available on the Android and iOS devices that I am currently using. This means that this feature is being rolled out in stages. It's just not certain whether original users will also be able to enjoy the same interaction and viewing.
