Most AI chatbot services on the market now support the file upload feature for users to ask various questions, analyze data or generate something with the file as a source. Claude, Perplexity and ChatGPT are all available for free users but Google Gemini is limited to paid users only. Recently, free users will also be able to do it, but not from Gemini.
For free users, Google is seen testing a file upload feature directly on Google Search and users can perform various searches or ask questions based on the file. However, based on the demo video it is just a normal search and not an AI search or content formulated by AI. This feature is seen to try to find the source or context from other files on the web that are related to the uploaded file.
If this feature has arrived to everyone, users are not encouraged to upload files with sensitive content such as personal data because it is not clear where the file will be stored. To be safer, pay RM97.99 for Google One AI Premium or use ChatGPT as a free alternative.
