Apple has now updated its current statistics page, showing that 68% of iPhones worldwide are now running the latest operating system, iOS 18, which was introduced in late 2024.
In addition, 19% of iPhones worldwide are running iOS 17, and the remaining 13% are running an older operating system. Apple takes this data based on devices that are connected and make transactions on the App Store, as of January 21, 2025.
This figure usually helps developers in developing and optimizing their applications for the most widely used operating system version.
iOS 18 is ready to run on iPhone XS and later, and brings a number of features specific to the latest iPhone with a focus on artificial intelligence called Apple Intelligence.
