Bukalapak, one of the e-commerce sites in Indonesia, is now making drastic changes to their company's operations, saying it will stop selling physical products through its platform. Instead, Bukalapak will focus on selling digital or virtual products only from now on, including mobile line credit, streaming service vouchers, and so on.
Bukalapak has given a date until February 9, 2025 for users to place their last physical product orders, before this change takes effect.
Bukalapak says this change is expected to have an impact on merchants on the platform, but they need to make changes to ensure the survival of their companies.
The e-commerce arena in Indonesia itself has several major players, including Tokopedia, which is owned by TikTok Shop, and Shopee. With fierce competition, it is difficult for Bukalapak to generate profits, leading to this new operational change.
For your information, previously, in 2019, Bukalapak had expanded their services to the Malaysian market, in addition to also taking over the iPrice service.
