Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has now shared with reporters that Microsoft is in talks to acquire TikTok's US operations. However, no further information has been shared.
The new President of the United States also said that there are various parties expressing interest in TikTok. This is a continuation of the government's directive in requiring at least 50% of TikTok's US operations to be owned by local firms.
Previously, it was said that Oracle was also bidding to acquire TikTok's operations, which was joined by several investors including Microsoft. It is not known whether Microsoft is also trying its luck privately in acquiring the popular social media company.
At the moment, it is not known whether ByteDance will choose to sell its operations or close them completely in the US.
