Fahmi Fadzil: Government Does Not Intend to Block Underage Users' Internet Access

Social media awareness among children is an important aspect in educating them to become smart and responsible internet users. Several countries such as Australia and Indonesia have begun to take proactive steps by streamlining the legal aspects of limiting access to social media platforms to underage users, especially children.

However, the government currently does not intend to follow the drastic steps of these two countries, according to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. Instead, the government has chosen to take a balanced approach in addressing possible security issues, including considering the country's socio-cultural background and legal landscape.

Fahmi also said that his party will continue to strengthen international relations with regulatory bodies in other countries. This is aimed at overcoming the increasingly acute issue of online crime. In addition, he also added that the steps and legal actions taken by the countries concerned can provide guidance to Malaysia. At the same time, Fahmi said that various important steps in finding new ideas will continue to be taken to ensure that online security can be strengthened.
