At this year’s CES 2025, Acer showed off a number of new products, particularly laptops powered by the latest components from AMD, Intel and NVIDIA. We didn’t get to go to the event, but Acer Malaysia also held their Predator League APAC event last weekend, and showed off some of their latest products to show off at the event.
In this first look, the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI will be our focus, a gaming laptop that comes with a thin and compact design, but still has powerful specifications.
Design And Specifications
Starting with the specifications of this laptop, it is powered by a choice of Intel Core Ultra 200 HX processors, including the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX chip along with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 graphics cards up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti model for laptops.
In terms of memory and storage offerings, this laptop comes with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and will be loaded with up to 2TB of PCIe 5.0 SSD storage options.
In terms of appearance, it is undeniable that the Predator Helios Neo 16S AI looks very similar to the Predator Helios 16AI, but there are a few things that set the two laptops apart. The most obvious one can be seen in the keyboard. The Predator Helios 16S AI uses a conventional tactile keyboard with a zoned RGB color lighting system, not per-key lighting like the Helios 16 AI and Helios 18 AI, and does not have an RGB light bar under the keyboard.
In terms of plug offerings, the Predator Helios 16S AI is loaded with Thunderbolt 5 plugs, USB 3.2 Type-A plugs, HDMI 2.1 plugs, 3.5mm audio plugs and a MicroSD card reader. It is also loaded with a 76Wh battery that allows this laptop to operate for several hours.
The Predator Helios 16S AI comes with a thinner and lighter design at 19.9mm thick and weighs 2.3kg and this is because this laptop does not need to accommodate giant components such as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card.
2025 can be said to be a very interesting year for laptops as it is expected that laptops that will be launched this year will all come with great performance, regardless of their size.
The Predator Helios Neo 16S AI will be launched in selected markets in the middle of this year, but for the local market, Acer Malaysia has not confirmed when it will go on sale at the moment.
